Gemotions

I dragged myself up the hill, my muscles screaming in protest. The air was thin, the view magnificent, but all I felt was a profound sense of emptiness. I'd been trying to find something, anything, to reignite the spark that was gone. I found the time capsule, buried under a specific rock that made me think of summer. I don't recall this.

Inside, there was a worn copy of my favorite book, marked with pages of passages. There were notes in the margins, the handwriting familiar, the ideas foreign. I remembered that time well, but it was just a phantom memory now. I closed my eyes and leaned against a stone, the wind a constant pressure on my skin. I would need to find my old self again.
